One resident managed a business in Pittsfield for several years. He recalled one black delivery man coming into the business, and a patron telling the delivery man he had to be out of town by sundown. The store manager believed the patron was a member of the city council. This was around 2003.

The Pittsfield Work Camp is located in the town. This probably explains almost the entire black population in the town.

*All Black residents in the town are male, between the ages of 18 and 61 (with the exception of one male under the age of 10, perhaps an adoption).
