email November 2007:
2000 Census info%u2026 SEVEN blacks %u2013 probably all children adopted by white families. My wife was told by coworkers that there were no black property owners in Highland because whenever a minority family expressed interest, or wanted to make an offer on a house, that a wealthy member of the community would be tipped off, who would swoop down and buy the property before a person of color could close a deal.

When Wal-Mart was planning on building a new Supercenter in Highland, some locals voiced the concern that it would attract %u201Criff-raff%u201D to the area!

According to NPR in 2000, there are 31,000 people, 1% black and Hispanic in Highland Park. Five white police officers filed suit against the department, charging that their careers were impeded because they refused to comply with the departments racial targeting of motorists, etc. More than 20 other white police officers filed affidavits supporting them.
